This park in Kirkjubaejarklaustur used to be a major area of settlement, but the local population was wiped out by a volcano eruption a few centuries back. Balls Pyramid, Australia
Ball's Pyramid is part of the Lord Howe Island Marine Park and is an erosional remnant of a shield volcano and caldera that formed about 6.4 million years ago. It's 1,844 ft high making it a must see as the tallest volcanic stack in the world.
