Meet Simba who lives with his owner Arjanit Mehana in an apartment building
in Sweden. Despite how Simba has always been a sweet pup, the neighbors in
their building have negatively judged him for being a pit bull.
One elderly woman who lived on the floor below Mehana and Simba always took
particular care to avoid the pup and shun his advances. 'He always tried to
greet her, but she called him mean and looked at him with fear,' Mehana told
The Dodo. 'She never liked him because he was a 'bad' breed.'
Her attitudes changed, however, after Simba saved her life.
Mehana and Simba had recently been returning to their apartment
from a walk when the pup suddenly started barking and pawing at
the elderly woman's door. He refused to leave.
As Mehana pulled on Simba's leash in bewilderment, he heard a faint voice
calling for help from inside.
The elderly neighbor had fallen and broken her hip. For two days, she had been
stuck on the floor without any way of calling for help.
Mehana then called medical services and waited with her until an
ambulance arrived.
She was sure to thank her rescuers for their intervention. 'She said, 'Thank you
for hearing me.' I thought she was talking to me at first,'
Mehana recalled. 'But then she said, 'No, not you-the nice doggie.''
Suffice it to say that the woman has had a change of heart towards her new
canine friend. Mehana also now hopes that Simba's story will help other people
to reconsider their views on pit bulls as well.
The heartwarming story of Simba's heroics have improved his reception around
the apartment building, where residents had previously dismissed the Pit Bull
based on their ignorance and fear. 'I know Simba is a wonderful dog,' Mehana said.
'But I hope this event will make people see bully breeds differently. We, as
human beings, must deserve their loyalty and love.'

8-month-old Sasha lives with her owner Latana Chaichanhda and her children in their
home in California. When their neighbor's house burst into flames, Sasha was in the
backyard.
Chai said, Sasha, started barking loudly at the back door. 'I open the backdoor the
dog was banging on and she runs in and starts barking at me like crazy and I was
like, 'OK, this is weird. This is not like her,'. That is when Chai realized there
was a fire next to her building.
By the time Chai headed to the bedroom to get her 7-month-old daughter, Sasha
had already sprung into action.
Sasha sank her teeth into the baby's diaper and was pulling her outside
away from any danger. From there, Chai took her other daughter outside too.
If not for the pup, the baby and all of them could have been hurt. Chai said Sasha
and her 7-month-old baby were very close and almost spent every second of
every day together, which may be the reason why the pit bull went for her
to save first. Sasha saved them all that day.
'It meant a lot. I owe her everything. If it wasn't for her, I would have still
been in bed and things could have taken a worse turn,' the proud dog owner said.
Luckily the fire only reached the family's attic and did not engulf the entire
building. In fact, the blaze occurred on a rare night when Sasha was left outside,
and Chaichanhda said it was likely the reason her family made it out alive.
