MINIATURE DONKEYS!

These Cute Little Donkeys Will Melt Your Heart. Enjoy! :)       These adorable animals are not only practical sized, but loving and hard-workers.       Not to be confused with baby donkeys, miniature donkeys are a distinct breed. In their native Sicily and Sardinia, they are not considered miniature. They were introduced to America in the 1920's.       A miniature donkey is affectionate, extremely comical and a joy to own. They are by nature people loving. They truly care for their family and are like the family dog. They are playful and will develop lasting bonds with humans.       The intelligence of the miniature donkey is superior to all other farm animals. They are thinking and reasoning creatures. The miniature donkey is easily trained.       At birth a miniature donkey weights 15-29 pounds (7-13 kg). A fully mature miniature donkey will grow to be between 32 and 36 inches tall. (80 - 90cm).       These small statured donkeys are equally capable workers as regular sized donkeys. By 3 years old, they can carry a pack or pull a cart.       The average life span is 25 to 35 years but with good nutrition and proper care, miniature donkeys have been known to live longer.

The good news is that mini-donkeys love children. They are exceptionally kind and careful with them.       Like horses, baby miniature donkeys are called foals. The males are called jacks while females are called jennets.       Mini-donkeys bond with other animals too. On farms, they get along famously with sheep and even protect them against canine predators.       Donkey aren't really "stubborn". They have exceptionally good memories and are cautious because they remember things that scared them in the past.       Appropriately named KneeHi, at a mere 25.29 inches tall (64cm), holds the Guinness World Record for being the shortest donkey.       Miniature donkeys have relatively few health problems. They are hardy animals used to most anything the environment can throw at them. They thrive in the cold regions of Canada and the hot areas of Mexico, South America and Africa.       If a mini donkey brays, snorts or snuffles when they see you, they consider you a friend.
