Meet British man Alex Larenty. Alex lives in a Game reserve in South Africa.
He has an unusual relationship with the lions there. Mr. Larenty first realized
that he had a connection with lions when he was instructed to apply cream on
one that had a wounded foot. The lion laid back and shuddered in enjoyment.
Larenty found out that every lion he came across that needed to be applied with foot cream did the same thing. Now, it would seem, that whenever he shows up, the lions lay back and stretch their legs to show him that they want a foot massage. He could be in a cave with these lions and still walk out unharmed as the relationship he has formed with them appears to be unbreakable. Through respect and purity, a strong bond and relationship is possible even with wild animals. After all, God is their creator and God is love. |
Meet Alex's son...
Alex relocated to South Africa in 1999 from Chipping Norton in Oxfordshire and he has been passing on his unique skills to his son Shandor. While most teenagers are playing computer games, Shandor Larenty likes to indulge in a different pastime - taming lions. 
The 18-year-old has built up an unbreakable rapport with 250 kg Zavu - stroking, hugging and playing together at home in Johannesburg, South Africa. 
His first big cat encounter was with a cheetah aged 11, and he has never looked back. At 16 the schoolboy became so close with his 14 stone Hyena that they kiss, cuddle and even eat together. The hyena is like his pet rather than the puppy dog he might have gotten if his dad had stayed in Oxfordshire. 
'A lot of the lions that I work with were born when I started learning, so I've grown up with them,' Shandor said. 
'Zavu is a special lion because he absolutely loves me and we are best friends.' |
