      This car is the Penny Car, a classic 1949 Cadillac Series 62, owned by Larry and Theresa Thompson from Fort Wayne, Indiana.

      They bought it in 1999. Once they got the snow off of it, they noticed it was penny colored so decided that would be its new 'paint' job.

Shangrala's Most Expensive Cars Sold
      With the help of friends, relatives and even strangers, they completely covered it with 38,295 pennies. The pennies were adhered one by one using silicone and added over 200 pounds to the cars weight. The entire project took them 6 weeks.

      A variety of pennies were used for the Penny Car, including an 1817 'big cent,' some error pennies, Indian head pennies, and four 1943 Steel Pennies.

      All the US coins are heads up, except for four. The challenge to visitors at the various car shows is to find those four pennies.

      Unlike other car show vehicles, touching the Penny Car is encouraged.
