This is an incredible rescue story of an elephant that was saved from
a man made well in Makindu in Southern Kenya.
The poor male elephant was spotted struggling to get out of the hole he is
thought to have fallen into while searching for water. The elephant could
not climb out by himself because of the steep, slippery sides of the mud pit.
Local farmers called for help.
Help Came In One Big Dramatic Way. Enjoy! :)
Wildlife conservationists and park rangers from The Kenya Wildlife Service
and Big Life Foundation were quick to the scene to help excavate the young
male from his muddy prison.
Unable to help the large mammal climb the steep clay sides, they
enlisted the aid of a heroic construction company. It was left to
a digger from Chinese company China Road and Bridge Corporation,
working on a nearby railway, to cultivate a gap in the bank allowing
the elephant to walk to freedom.
