SHANGRALA'S
WINSTON
CHURCHILL
QUOTES!
Sir Winston Churchill
was born on November 30, 1874 and died January 24, 1965. He was a British politician, army officer, and
writer. He was Prime Minister of the UK from 1940 to 1945, when
he led Great Britain to victory in World War II, and again from 1951 to 1955.
Throughout his life, Churchill made things happen. He was relentlessly driven and focussed; a workaholic, determined to fulfil his own destiny and to protect his country - and he did all he could to ensure all those around him followed him and made things happen too. Churchill had an incredibly quick mind, a sharp tongue and a very large vocabulary. He loved playing with words - creating new ones, adapting old ones - and using words to his advantage, quite often at the expense of others. Many of his speeches and quotes from those speeches are very well known witticisms. In 2013, he topped a poll of 'History's Funniest Insults'. There's a Churchill quote on nearly every page in the Dictionary of Humorous Political Quotations. As this journalist said, he's the last word in political wit. |
