SHANGRALA'S
AMAZING
BLIND
ARTIST!
John Bramblitt is
a brilliant artist who also happens to be blind. He uses his sense of touch
to create beautifully colorful paintings.
Here Are Photos Of His Beautiful Art Work. Enjoy! :) Bramblitt has suffered from epileptic seizures since he was a kid. Though it's a rare occurrence, these seizures led to his eventual total blindness. His visual impairment doesn't keep him from painting with a wide spectrum of color, though. Unlike many of his contemporaries, he 'sees' colors that go unnoticed to the naked eye. Using his hands in place of his eyes, John feels his way across the canvas. as he paints. He uses one hand to feel the canvas and the other to fill it in with paint. Bramblitt uses textured paint that dries fast and leaves raised bumps for him to feel the result of his work. He says, 'The raised lines are a map for me. It's a way to guide myself across the canvas.' In addition to the special paints, Bramblitt can also feel different colors. According to the artist, white is thick like toothpaste, burnt sienna is clumpy like jelly, and black is runny like oil. Ultimately, Bramblitt says, 'The way I paint is pretty much like the way anybody else paints, except that instead of using my eyes to see the painting I'm doing, I just use my hands.' Remarkably, Bramblitt never painted until he was blind. |
