BIRD SCULPTURE ART!

Colombian artist Diana Beltran Herrera is an awesome artist! She turns sheets of colorful paper into lifelike bird sculptures. After realizing that nature's beauty was all around her in Bogota, particularly in the form of birds, Herrera began sculpting various winged creatures with sheets of colorful paper.       Each bird is handcrafted through a meticulous process. She starts with a structured base as the core. Herrera hand-cuts every 'feather' and carefully attaches them, piece by piece, to make up the main body, tail, wings, and head. Eyes and beaks are added after the feathers are in place. Finally, the legs are created with wire and floral tape. Finishing touches are added including hand painting their feathers to get the most believable coloring and design.       Each one of the birds in Herrera's growing collection can take her anywhere from 5 days to 2 weeks to complete. So far, the artist has constructed over 100 species of birds.
