Over two decades ago, someone dug an improvised grave on a hiking route in Altadena,
California. The reason? To bury a helpless newborn baby.
The unknown person abandoned the baby in a small hole and covered it with earth
and stones.
In 1998, Azita Milanian went running with her 3 black lab dogs on the same hiking route
shortly after the baby, Matthew, was left there to die. It was one of Azita's dogs,
Tango, that smelled something and started barking and sniffing the way for Azita. He
alerted her to Matthew's tiny feet sticking out above the ground.
"He went after something and I thought it was a dead animal or creature," she
said in an interview at the time. "Then, as I looked deeper in the dirt, I
could see it was a child." She began to frantically dig away at the dirt with
her hands. Then, she said, "I screamed. There was a blue towel, and there was
a baby in there!"
Unable to get 911 on her cell phone, all that frightened Azita could do was run to
the nearest road to wave to the passing cars. A driver stopped and immediately
drove them to the nearest police station.
Where Azita stayed with Matthew and washed him gently and consoled him. He still had
his umbilical cord hanging from his stomach.
"I told him, I will never leave you. I love you. He grabbed my hand and stopped
crying, it was very emotional", recalls Azita. At the same time, Azita simply
could not understand what sick person could do this.
Miraculously, thanks to the dogs and Azita, the baby survived and was put up for
adoption.
It turns out that sometimes all we need is human contact and love.
Azita never saw him again until...
20 years later, Matthew learned the story of how he was found and decided
to visit the place where he was left to die.
He finally met with his guardian angel in an emotional reunion.
"I was waiting for you for 20 years"
"You are exactly as I imagined you would be, I guessed your size, everything."
"Thank you for coming into my life, you changed my life. I knew we were going
to connect again."
"The day I met him he confirmed my faith. God brought us together for a purpose."
