Recently with the Boy Scout issue, there has been a lot of questions and discussion on whether or not being a gay, a lesbian, or having an "alternative sexual lifestyle' is a sin.

To find this out we have to see what God says about it. In Genesis chapter 18 Abraham is informed by God of a bad problem...

[20] And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous;
[21] I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know.
[22] And the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the LORD.

There were 3 angels in the form or likeness of men with Abraham. Two departed to check on the condition in the Cities. One stayed with Abraham and had a discussion with him. Verses 23 to 33 deals with Abraham questioning the angel on how many righteous must be found in the City for it to be spared. He starts at fifty and works down to having the angel agree to spare the city for the sake of as little as ten good people. Abraham is then satisfied.

In Genesis chapter 19, the record of God continues with these two angels meeting up with a man of God who is in one of the two cities.

[1] And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;
Lot was trying to get them to stay with him over night as his guests.

[3] And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat.

They finally agreed, had a nice big meal together, and were about to turn in for the night when:

[4] But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter:
[5] And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.

Whoa, wait a minute. What did they say ... "we may know them"? The bible often uses "know" as 'Adam knew his wife and she begat...' sort of thing, so is this saying they wanted to have sex with the angels who to them appeared as men? We read on...

[6] And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him,
[7] And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly.
[8] Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.

The answer is yes. Lot offered to them his two virgin daughters to make peace and to leave these 'men' alone that were under his roof of protection ... and what happens next? The record continues...

[9] And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door.

Well, these evil guys said no way - we want them and after we are done with them, we will deal worse with you for resisting us! ...They became an angry mob at Lot's front door!

[10] But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door.
[11] And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door.

Thank God! The angels 'men' pulled Lot inside the house, closed the door and caused every member of that ugly mob to be blind so that they grew tired and gave up trying to find the door.

[12] And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place:
[13] For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it.

Now the Lord knew the place was evil and determined it was going down!

[14] And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.

They thought he was joking!

[15] And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.
[16] And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.
[17] And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.

Lot didn't want to leave the rest of his family behind, but the 'men' angels wanted to save Lot and his family lives so they set them outside of the city and told them to get while the getting was good and don't look back! Lot however got the angels to agree to let him and his family go to a small city instead of the mountains. They fled to that little city nearby.

The record continues...

[24] Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;
[25] And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.
[26] But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

And what? Lot's wife became a pillar of salt. She was consumed because she did what? Disobeyed the Word of God when told Not to look back she did anyway. She crossed the line ... the Word of God was true. She was consumed. Why? Why not have mercy on her?

Numbers 23:19 tells us why:

"God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?"

God is not a man to lie and neither the son of man to repent. It was a commandment. God said don't and if you do you will be consumed. That's it. No ifs ands or buts about it! She crossed the line and therefore had to pay the price.

OK, So we learned that God completely destroyed two cities, Sodom and Gomorrah, with brimstone and fire that rained from above. Why? Because the people were evil and sinned against God. Breaking Gods Commandments in the old Testament time was like committing self destruction. God set the law into place and when broken it would hit them like a load of bricks. Not so today. We have to catch those people who break the laws. God's Law was all automatic against you - an eye for an eye type force. It was like an invisible wall that people ran into and caused their own harm. Equal and opposite reacting force. Break God's Commandments and boom, you are in trouble.

So what law or laws did they break that was so bad to cause a rain of fire that completely destroyed two whole cities? Think about it. All the men, women, children, animals, and even down to the very plants were destroyed. That's a heavy load of bricks! We need to know so WE don't go against God so wickedly as these people did.

In the New Testament the account in Romans chapter 1 gives us an insight:

[18] For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

Verse 21 goes on to tell us why this wrath of God from heaven came about:

[21] Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
[22] Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
[23] And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
[24] Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
[25] Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

Sun worship, angel worship, deity worship, cow worship, and/or about anything else that of course wasn't God Almighty, they were worshipping! Exod. 20:3,5 clearly states God's viewpoint. God's Number one commandment is 'Thou shalt have NO other Gods before me'. They had crossed the line!

[26] For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
[27] And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

Say what? Men with men and woman with woman is what to God? A Vile Affection. According to the dictionary vile means: morally despicable, or abhorrent or physically repulsive. Being homosexual is a sin. Leaving the natural use of the opposite sex is against God. What did God tell Adam and Eve to do? The first man and woman were supposed to 'Be fruitful and multiply'. You certainly can't do what God wants you to if you are without natural affection and partnering with someone or something other then the opposite sex. That's going against God's Word. Crossing the line.

Notice that it doesn't say gay people were born to these people. People are not BORN Gay as today's gay society would have you believe. It says 'leaving the natural use'. LEAVING means they once had it but decided to leave it. They weren't born that way - they turned that way - they chose that lifestyle. The Bible says they left the natural use of the opposite sex and lusted after another.

[28] And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

Once they crossed that line of worshipping something or someone other then the one and only True God, they got even worse in the eyes of God:

[29] Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
[30] Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
[31] Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
[32] Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

There you have God's word on the matter. It is a sin ... worthy of death and is why the total destruction of the two cities happened.

Sex in itself is addictive. You were curious of it before you had it for the first time but never craved it so much as after you had already had it. It becomes addictive. The more you do it, the more you want to.

We know that a sex offender is somehow addicted to what he/she does. A child molester or a rapist 9 times out of 10 will repeat the same offense over and over again even after being in prison for the crime.

This is why we have to educate our children in the evils of trying or experimenting with unnatural affection. It should be discussed as openly as drug and alcohol use. They need to know it is highly addictive.

I do not know how a pedophile becomes addicted to doing it over and over again, I just know he does. He crossed the line.

I do not know how a rapist becomes addicted to doing it over and over again, I just know he does. He crossed the line.

I do know why we destroy animals when they cross the line and attack a human, because we know they will do it again.

We can't just kill people today who cross that line. That is not the Will of God as we have our Savior Jesus Christ who did away with all those automatic Laws...

Romans 10:4 "For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth."

Romans 10:9,10 tells us what to believe and do:
[9]That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
[10] For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Say OUT LOUD 'Jesus Christ is my Lord' and believe without a shadow of a doubt in your heart that God Raised Jesus Christ from the dead and you are saved!

Those of us who are saved are told to love God and to love one another. 1 John.3:23, 1 John.4:20,

We now know that being gay or lesbian is without natural affection and is indeed a sin against God. So we Renew our Mind to God's Word and walk on it by personally choosing not to do it because we love God and don't want to lose our fellowship with Him or lose our blessings from Him. We do what is right and teach our children to do what is right as well.

Unnatural human affections today should be treated as we do with anyone suffering an addiction to something. We know they are not necessarily continuing it on their own free will. It started out as a free will choice, they crossed the line, but for those who wish to stop, it is not an easy road to go. Ask any recovering drug addict or any AA member and they will tell you. It is a day by day watch. So it is with people who are addicted to unnatural affections. They need our help, not our acceptance.

In today's society we have seen homosexuals begin to come out of their closet with mild shows of affection in public. Nowadays, like obnoxious drunks at a bar, we see many of them acting and dressing out of control. As with any addiction, the problems get worse, not better. Will we see a society like the city of Sodom where all the city had turned to vile affections? An addiction left unchecked in a society can only get worse. We need to watch therefore and teach our young of the dangers.

We know things are bad when an age old organization like our Boy Scouts are loosing support and funding from societies, charities, and public schools simply because they choose to stand on God's Word. We need to support fine organizations like these instead of condemning or turning our back on them.

Romans 12:2
"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."
